Ron has always been an entrepreneur, investing in his own real estate ventures — from storage facilities to whatever makes sense — and has been extensively involved in Commercial, Residential, and Land Development throughout his 30 years representing buyers and sellers as owner of his own real estate companies. He founded Colorado Group Realty in 1996, later merging with The Group Inc. in 2022 to bring together over 300 owner brokers. That alliance gives TGI — and Ron’s clients — the advantage when it comes to investing in northern Colorado.

Professional Background

In 1982, Ron Wendler moved from Iowa to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, to attend college and ski. After gaining experience in small business (Steamboat Discount Liquor) and property management, Ron obtained his real estate license in 1995.

Ron became an owner of Eagle Premier Properties Real Estate Company until 1996, when he founded Colorado Group Realty as an independent owner/brokerage. Since then, Ron has helped Colorado Group Realty become one of the top real estate companies in northwestern Colorado.

His commitment, success, and knowledge of real estate here in Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley are a valuable asset that not many brokers can match — reflected in his Broker of the Year honors in 2007 and 2018, and Top Sales Producer honors from 2005 through 2022.

Personal

When he’s not working, Ron works hard and plays hard — snowmobiling, skiing, fly fishing, and elk hunting in the Rocky Mountains out his back door. Vacations away from the area usually mean the deserts of Moab for ATV and dirt biking, scuba diving in the waters of the Caribbean, or pheasant hunting back in his home state of Iowa, or in Nebraska, Montana, and the Dakotas.

Ron is married to his beautiful wife, Molly, and the two share three kids who are a big part of their lives: Payton, following her love and passion for horses from Hunter Jumper to helping with Polo events; Landon, who is on the U.S. Mogul Ski Team and is now proudly a 2026 Winter Olympian; and Grace, an early childhood school teacher in Fort Collins, Colorado. And you can’t forget Gus, their 12-year-old German Wirehaired Pointer — Ron’s best friend, who always wants to play ball or go for a swim.
